Matt Kanelos’ band has recently emerged as an exciting and distinct voice in New York City’s indie music scene. Kanelos’ songs and singing (intimate in a way calling to mind Neil Young and Will Oldham) act as the guiding force for a band with an uncommonly wide musical and emotional palate. With disarming grace, Matt Kanelos’ band carries audiences through abstract yet vivid lyrical and musical landscapes. They perform regularly at acclaimed New York music venues like the Living Room, the Rockwood Music Hall, and Barbès. Matt released his first EP, Children Love to Dance, in 2005. He and the band (Joe Adamik of Califone, Ben Gallina, and Kyle Sanna) are currently working on their first full-length CD due for release in fall of ’08.
